Day 2 2011 Brussels Atomium and
Last entry on this trip to land Belgians.
We got up at a decent hour and hooked breakfast at the last minute. Most English had done the same and at that time was that language that dominated the room. Pedro told us about his adventures in Europe and Argentina and got a guide you by Belgium did that day .. With this information unnecessary but curious we went in search of a Metro.
in Belgium should be very confident, since there are no barriers in the subway, just the typical device to "pick" the ticket. Transportation itself has a curious way, half way between a modern bus and one of the many Trams in the city.
After several changes (some more than strictly necessary) we arrive at the outskirts of Brussels, resting place of the impressive Atomium. Almost everyone got off at that stop, but to our surprise not to see the monument, but to go to an auto show to be held in a huge venue (the style that is in Montjuic).
The Atomium is a huge metal structure that plays an iron atom on a massive scale. The areas are visited and are linked by stairs. It's really hard to get an idea of \u200b\u200bthe proportions of the memorial with photos. Live is huge and spectacular.
In 1991 came the initiative to restore these old facades painted in comic strips. These murals created by artists best known form what is called "The Path of comics." Previous Day marked on a city map the location of the most important paintings. There was time to go hunting.
started in the area east of the city, where by chance we find a bustling market and the curious image of a host of giant windmills along a canal.
We followed our own directions until midafternoon, photographed with all the murals that we (some, like Asterix, were inaccessible). To complete the route we visited some of the comic book stores downtown. Some were almost art galleries with original paintings and scared of just looking at the price. And if there are manga and all sorts of merchandising.
Start
Sunset. A tour of the Grand Place in farewell and to the hostel to look for things. The plane leaves in a few hours and is usually not a good idea to lose ...
