been a year of the earthquake in Haiti that killed 180,000 people and left 250,000 injured, in addition to destroying the homes of more than one million inhabitants. This event mobilized the world, only in the Asian Tsunami years ago had been a (supposed) so forceful international response. All were good intentions, promises of debt relief, reconstruction ads ... even bet on the possibility of rebuilding the state as such, anarchic Haiti is a nation in which the rulers themselves amok without giving out any of the problems of life. It was time to clean and start from scratch.
Yesterday, the program Hora 25, de la Cadena Ser, the special envoy to Haiti, Daniel Castellanos, claimed that nothing has changed since that January 12, 2010. Debris still rubble, the streets are makeshift homes, violence multiplies trounced diseases to citizens, especially cholera, the future is a utopia in which nobody believes, to survive the night and is a heroic. Today, La Sexta reports that in Haiti there are over 10,000 NGOs, but that aid is trickling in and is totally inadequate. Good intentions are not staying in that order, in good intentions. Only 5% of the promised aid has been made effective.
again to do the usual question: Where is the UN? assume that one year is not enough time to (re) build a country from scratch, but how it is possible that progress is so small? Politicians are a mouthful of good intentions, but when the flashes and cameras were turned off, spit on their commitments, lest they are swallowed and had to fulfill their promises once. Coordination between states is zero. The UN, which should be "moderate" leader, sends soldiers, doctors and little else, their work is infinitely less than what they could do. Refugees in the great building of New York are too comfortable to worry about a country that does not benefit.
Today
remember playing as the first anniversary ...
